New Delhi: In a recent promotional interview for the film Fighter, Deepika Padukone almost confirmed her participation in the third season of the Emmy-winning American series, 'The White Lotus'.
A video of an interaction between the Fighter actress and director Siddarth Anand is doing the rounds on the internet. The duo were seen having fun moments teasing each other about the actress's rumored role in Emmy Emmy-winning American series The White Lotus.
During the media interaction, when asked about her role in The White Lotus, Siddharth appeared unfamiliar with the show.
Deepika took the opportunity to tease the director, saying, "You don’t know the show The White Lotus?...He’s been very busy." A journalist congratulated Deepika on her role, prompting her to say Thank you, thus indirectly confirming her appearance in the acclaimed series.
Siddarth playfully replied saying, “I live under a rock, apparently...Thanks for exposing me...Lotus 3? Tune bataya ni mereko?”
Later when they were asked about future projects together, the director said, “Where now space Lotus 3 is coming.” Deepika suggested they would collaborate if Siddharth decides to make ‘Fighter 2’, to which he jokingly says, “Kaise karenge? Fighter 2 aapne band kara di hai. Lotus 3 kar rahi hai..Kab time milega Deepu?”
Fans had initially speculated about Deepika's involvement in The White Lotus after her mother-in-law Anju Bhavnani's liked posts on X (formerly Twitter) which had reported Deepika's role in the series.
This venture would mark Deepika Padukone's second foray into Hollywood, following her appearance in XXX: Return of Xander Cage.
The White Lotus, an HBO series, has garnered critical acclaim and high ratings since its premiere in July 2021. The third season, set to air in 2025, is rumored to be filmed in Thailand. The series boasts an impressive cast, including Aimee Lou Wood, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Michelle Monaghan, Leslie Bibb, among others. The series has received fourteen Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes.
Meanwhile, 'Fighter', having hit theaters on Thursday, has collected Rs 24.6 Crore at the domestic box office.
