Expressing her disbelief at Suhani's untimely demise, Sanya extended her heartfelt condolences to Suhani's entire family.

New Delhi: Actress Sanya Malhotra shared her condolences on Sunday following the tragic death of Suhani Bhatnagar, known for her portrayal of young Babita Phogat in the 2016 blockbuster film 'Dangal,' starring Aamir Khan.

Expressing her disbelief at Suhani's untimely demise, Sanya extended her heartfelt condolences to Suhani's entire family. 'Dangal,' directed by Nitesh Tiwari, recounts the inspiring journey of the Phogat sisters from Haryana, Geeta and Babita, who rose to prominence as India's first female wrestlers to compete internationally and clinch medals.

Sanya Malhotra, who kickstarted her acting career with 'Dangal,' played the role of the adult Babita Kumari in the film. Taking to her Instagram Stories, Sanya expressed her grief, remembering Suhani fondly and acknowledging her exceptional talent and unique charm. She wrote, "I can't believe it's real. There was no one quite like our Suhani. She was so special, so talented, and way too young to have left us so soon. Rest in peace Chotu. My deepest condolences to Pooja, Puneet, and the entire family."

In 'Dangal,' Aamir Khan portrayed the character of their father, Mahavir Singh Phogat, driven by the ambition to mold his daughters into world-class wrestlers. Alongside Sanya's portrayal of Babita, Fatima Sana Shaikh portrayed Geeta Phogat, while Zaira Wasim depicted the younger version of Geeta.

Aamir Khan's production house also mourned the death of Bhatnagar. Taking to their official X handle, they shared a post that read, "We are deeply saddened to hear about our Suhani passing away. Our heartfelt condolences to her mother Poojaji, and the entire family 🙏🏽 Such a talented young girl, such a team player, Dangal would have been incomplete without Suhani. Suhani, you will always remain a star in our hearts ❤️ May you rest in peace 🙏🏽."

The heartbreaking news of Suhani Bhatnagar's death comes after the 19-year-old from Faridabad was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition known as dermatomyositis two months ago. Despite medical treatment, including steroids aimed at managing the condition, Suhani's health deteriorated rapidly. She was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, where her condition worsened, leading to respiratory complications exacerbated by the weakening of her immune system due to the treatment.

Suhani Bhatnagar's sudden demise has left the film fraternity and fans alike in shock, mourning the loss of a talented young actress.
