Coronavirus: Kamal Haasan & Other Celebs React To Migrant Workers Jamming Bandra Station Amid Lockdown

The Mumbai Police resorted to a mild lathi charge after more than 3,000 hungry and angry migrants gathered near Bandra station in Mumbai.

New Delhi: The novel Coronavirus outbreak has changed the functioning of many countries all over the world including India. Yesterday (April 14), on the last day of 21-day lockdown, PM Modi in his address to nation announced further extension of the nationwide lockdown till May 3. Hours after the announcement, more than 3,000 hungry and angry migrants including many women and children, from various states, gathered near Bandra station in Mumbai in the hope of getting a meal and then catching a train back to their states. The Mumbai Police, which attempted to cajole them from gathering in such huge numbers, resorted to a mild lathi charge when sections of the restive crowd seemed to be going out of control. Reacting to the situation, popular celebrities took to their social media accounts and shared their views on the same. Here's how they reacted: Kamal Haasan: All the balcony people take a long and hard look at the ground. First it was Delhi, now Mumbai. The migrant crisis is a time bomb that must be defused before it becomes a crisis bigger than Corona. Balcony government must keep their eyes on what's happening on the ground too. Anubhav Sinha: We have to understand, these migrant workers uses their houses just to sleep. A lot of them even use toilets at workplaces. Those 'houses' can not be inhabited 24*7 by several for a month without stepping out. That's why they want to go home. Speaking further about Coronavirus, the total number of positive cases crossed 10,000-mark in India on Tuesday. Keep watching this space for more updates!
