Farhan Akhtar Leads Anti-CAA Protest In Mumbai's August Kranti Maidan; Shibani Dandekar & Swara Bhasker Extend Support

New Delhi: Bollywood filmmaker and actor Farhan Akhtar joined the protestors at Mumbai’s August Kranti Maidan on Thursday (December 19) to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019. The ‘Rock On’ star, who led the protest, was accompanied by with his girlfriend Shibani Dandekar. He had requested his followers to participate in the protest meeting on Twitter. Farhan had earlier tweeted, “Here’s what you need to know about why these protests are important. See you on the 19th at August Kranti Maidan, Mumbai. The time to protest on social media alone is over.” Farhan had to later issue an clarification over his tweet as it featured wrong Indian map. "I recently posted a message about a protest meeting on December 19th with the repost of a graphic about the meeting. While I stand by the text, I have only just noticed that the map of India on the graphic is inaccurate. Every inch and part of Kashmir is a part of India and I reject the inaccurate map. I regret not noticing this earlier. My sincere apologies for the oversight," the 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' actor wrote on the micro-blogging site. Swara Bhaskar, while talking to ABP News, said that the Citizenship Amendment Act is against the constitution. She also added that the agenda behind the act is to divide people on the basis of religion. Veteran actress Shabana Azmi expressed her solidarity with the protestors, who are protesting against CAA and NRC. The 'Masoom' actress, who is currently out of India, requested the people to not engage in any form of violence during the protests. She shared a series of videos on the micro-blogging site.
