A R Rahman's Concert In Pune Halted By Police, Fans Left Disappointed

The Oscar-winning music composer A.R. Rahman's mega-concert was interrupted midway by the Pune Police.

New Delhi: The Oscar-winning music composer A.R. Rahman's mega-concert was interrupted midway by the Pune Police. Late on Sunday night, the incident took place. Near the Rajbahadur Mills, the performance took place in a huge outdoor venue.

But at precisely 10 p.m., a senior police officer signalled the organisers to stop the event immediately since it had gone over the allowed time limit by shining a torch on the stage in the pitch black. The incident disappointed thousands in the audience and his fans.

At that point, Rahman was in the middle of his smash song 'Chal Chhaiya, Chhaiyaa' performance when the cop approached him, pointed at his wristwatch, and demanded that the act cease immediately. The renowned music director did as instructed. The annoyed officer approached one of the musicians and informed them that if they didn't wind up, they could face the consequences for breaking the rules of timing. Some musicians appeared to have disregarded the order and continued to perform.

Huge cries of protest from the audience members who had been watching the concert for more than two hours greeted the policeman as he stepped to the stage and gave the order to end it.

The singer also posted a few pictures from the event on his Instagram page. "Pune! Thank you for all the love and euphoria last night! Was such a roller coaster concert! No wonder Pune is home to so much classical music! We shall be back soon to sing with you all again!," he wrote.

During the shut down, Rahman himself left the stage calmly without creating a scene or making any remarks.
