Jigra To Joker: Folie à Deux, 8 Releases To Watch Out For In October 2024

From 'Jigra' to 'Joker', October promises more excitement with a lineup of highly anticipated movies.

September 2024 featured several major film releases, and October is set to continue the excitement with highly anticipated titles. Fans can look forward to Jigra, Vettaiyan, Joker: Folie a Deux, CTRL, and Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. Here’s what to expect this month.

Joker: Folie a Deux
‘Joker: Folie a Deux’, starring Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, is a psychological thriller directed by Todd Phillips. The sequel to the critically acclaimed Joker (2019) will premiere in theatres on October 2. In this installment, Lady Gaga reprises her role as Harley Quinn, while Joaquin Phoenix returns as the Joker. The supporting cast includes Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey, with Zazie Beetz returning as Sophie.

CTRL
After her debut series, ‘Call Me Bae’, Ananya Panday is set to return with another film on OTT. This cyber thriller also Vihaan Samat, and is set to premiere on Netflix on October 4. In CTRL, Ananya and Vihaan portray Nella and Joe, a couple beloved by their internet audience as they create content together. The screenplay is penned by Vikramaditya Motwane and Avinash Sampath.

The Signature
‘The Signature’ follows the emotional journey of Arvind, played by Anupam Kher, whose life is disrupted when his wife collapses at the airport just before a planned trip. Produced by KC Bokadia and Anupam Kher Studio, the film also stars Mahima Chaudhry, Neena Kulkarni, Annu Kapoor, and Ranvir Shorey. It will premiere on ZEE5 on October 4.

Vettaiyan
The much-anticipated film ‘Vettaiyan’, directed by TJ Gnanavel, features Rajinikanth in his 170th role. The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Ritika Singh, Manju Warrier, and Dushara Vijayan. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music for this grand production. The film is slated to hit theatres on October 10.

Jigra
Directed by Vasan Bala, ‘Jigra’ stars Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina in an action-packed narrative focused on a prison break. Alia portrays Satya, a strong, devoted sister determined to rescue her brother, Ankur, played by Vedang. Produced by Dharma Productions, Viacom18 Studios, and Eternal Sunshine Productions, the film is co-written by Debashish Irengbam and Vasan Bala. ‘Jigra’ is set to release in theatres on October 11.

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video
Starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, this film is directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa. ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ promises an engaging mix of comedy and drama, celebrating the lively essence of the 90s. Scheduled for release on October 11, it will go head-to-head with Alia Bhatt's highly anticipated film, ‘Jigra’.

Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama
This 1999 Japanese-Indian anime classic will receive its first theatrical release in India, updated with new Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu dubs alongside its original English version. Directed by Yugo Sako, Ram Mohan, and Koichi Sasaki, the animated film is set to hit cinemas on October 18 in 4K format, featuring Arun Govil as Ram and Namrata Sawhney as Sita in the Hindi version.

Lucky Baskhar
Directed and written by Venky Atluri, ‘Lucky Baskhar’ stars Dulquer Salmaan and Meenakshi Chaudhary. The film is scheduled for release on October 31, with Sithara Entertainments stating that while postponing releases can affect social media reputation, prioritizing the film's quality is essential. ‘Lucky Baskhar’ aims to make Diwali special for audiences worldwide.
