Janhvi Kapoor Talks About Sridevi's Death Giving Her A 'Weird Sense Of Relief' As She 'Deserved It'

Janhvi revealed that Sridevi called her 'laddo' and that Janhvi spent most of the time at work after Sridevi's death even though that time was very blurry as she does not remember much.“

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Janhvi Kapoor recently sat down in an interaction with a publication and got candid about her personal and professional life. She talked about ample work opportunities, the desire to earn respect and her mother and actor Sridei's death. Janhvi also accepted that she is 'unapologetic' for her identity and has her own set of struggles which are not as relatable as putting food on the table for others.

In an interaction with Barkha Dutt for Mojo Story, Janhvi spoke about the loss of her mother and how difficult it was for her to deal with Sridevi's death. "When I lost mom, of course there was this huge tragedy, there was a hole in my heart. But there was this horrible feeling of ‘something bad has happened’ to justify all the great things in my life and all the privilege and the things that I got easily which I heard my entire life. I thought ‘Ok now something bad has happened. I deserve this. I deserve this horrible thing that has happened to me. It was a weird sense of relief,” Janhvi said.

Janhvi revealed that Sridevi called her 'laddo' and that Janhvi spent most of the time at work after Sridevi's death even though that time was very blurry as she does not remember much.“I don’t think I remember anything. That entire month was a blur for me and a long time after that was also a blur.” Sridevi passed away in February 2018 in Dubai.

When asked about how she chose scripts for her films and the thought process which go behind it, Janhvi said, "I think it might hurt my ego a bit to be inconsequential in a film. I believe I have more to offer and I want to prove to myself that I can take up new challenges and emerge from them. Somewhere it comes down to the line that ‘Mujhe mauke bohot mile hai, par izzat abhi tak nahi mila,’ (I have got a lot of opportunities, but I am yet to earn the respect) and I think that’s what I am working for, in my own eyes. It takes a lot to build perception and then break it.”

The 'Mili' actor also shared that the nepotism debate occasionally traumatizes her though she does try hard to deal with it. "I don’t know how alienating it might be for me to sit and talk about being traumatized in my designer saree, taking a first class flight to shoot a Dharma film. It is important to recognize that, but it is just as important to recognize that trauma does not always mean the struggle to put food on your table. That might be the most relatable struggle.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Janhvi has been roped in for Jr. NTR's 30th film and on Monday ( her birthday) makers shared the announcement with a poster of Janhvi from the film.

Janhvi also has 'Bawaal' with Varun Dhawan and Mr. & Mrs. Mahi with Rajkummar Rao.
