The Oscars 2025 saw many celebrated actors, filmmakers, sound and production designers and technical crews that make a film come together to honour the most celebrated films from 2024. Veteran actor Morgan Freeman was also seen at the Oscars stage. Freeman also paid a tribute to late actor Gene Hackman. Several people also noticed that Freeman wore a single glove during the ceremony. While Freeman has previously spoken about it in the past, many were left wondering.
Why did Morgan Freeman wear a single glove?
Freeman was involved in a car crash in 2008. The actor glided off a Mississippi road and flipped over at the time. At the time, his left arm was badly injured and the Emergency services had to cut him free. At the time, it was reported that they had to use hydraulic cutters( jaws of life) to get Morgan out of the vehicle. It is also said that Freeman was talking and joking with the rescue workers at one point.

Freeman was told that he would eventually see improvement and the pain would eventually subside by 2011. But, Freeman was unable to use his hand properly. The actor thus wears a compression glove to keep the blood flowing. Freeman has on previous occasions spoken about the injury and said, "I suffered nerve damage and it hasn't gotten better. I can't move it.”
"If you don't move your hand, it will swell up. Do you know you move your hand about a million times a day?" he added.
Several years ago, during an interview with Esquire experienced pain in his injured arm and spoke about it and said, "It's the fibromyalgia. Up and down the arm. That's where it gets so bad. Excruciating."
Morgan Freeman on Gene Hackman
Meanwhile, Morgan Freeman paid a tribute to his late co-star Hackman, who was recently found dead alongwith his wife Betsy Arakawa and their dog. Hackman and Freeman were seen together in films like 'Unforgiven' (1992) and 'Under Suspicion'(2000).
"This week our community lost a giant, and I lost a dear friend, Gene Hackman. He received two Oscars and more importantly he won the hearts of film lovers all over the world," Freeman said.
