Ghoomer Review: 'Abhishek Bachchan Lives The Role Of Coach,' Harsha Bhogle Shares Views On R Balki Directorial

Ghoomer Review: Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle said that he went with a combination of excitement and unease to watch the movie as he reviewed the R Balki directorial.

Renowned cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle shared his views on the upcoming Bollywood movie Ghoomer. While the Abhishek Bachchan starrer is all set to hit the theatres on August 18 (Friday), Bhogle attended a special screening of the film prior to its release. Popularly known as the Voice of Indian Cricket, the 62-year-old said that he had his reservations about how the cricket would be shot but was impressed with what he saw.

He credited Saiyami Kher and said that it helped that she was a proper cricketer which allowed to play some actual cricket shots and truly depict the sport on screen.

"I went to see a movie recently and I went with a combination of excitement and unease," Bhogle said in a video shared by Hope Productions.

"It’s not just Saiyami – who is a proper cricketer. She’s an actor, but she’s also a proper cricketer. So there was never going to be any doubt about that, but also on how the rest of the characters play," he added.

He liked what he saw of Abhishek Bachchan in the film and said that the actor lives the role of a coach through the film.

"Then there was Abhishek Bachchan. I think he lives the role of the coach. I love the way Abhishek married the two into his character. I could recognize a couple of cricketers within the character that Abhishek plays, but I’ll leave it for you to decide. But needless to say, he is outstanding especially in the first half," he said. Abhishek Bachchan responded to Bhogle's comments with a message of gratitude.

Meanwhile, Bhogle was not the only one from the cricket fraternity to share his views on the movie. Star India batter Ajinkya Rahane also praised the movie. "Loved #Ghoomer the film . It’s an emotional film that will inspire you . Cricket was also very good , good luck team ghoomer. Releasing 18 Aug," he wrote on Twitter.

The film also stars Shabana Azmi, and Angad Bedi.
