Ekta Kapoor Reacts To Kangana Ranaut calling Taapsee Pannu Her 'Sasti Copy'

The trailer of Tappsee Pannu starrer Dobaaraa was launched in Mumbai on Wednesday. At the event, Ekta Kapoor was asked about Kangana Ranaut calling Taapsee a ‘sasta (cheaper)' version of herself.

New Delhi: The trailer of Tappsee Pannu starrer 'Dobaaraa' was launched in Mumbai on Wednesday. The film is directed by Anaurag Kashyap and produced by Ekta Kapoor. At the event, Ekta Kapoor was asked about Kangana Ranaut calling Taapsee a ‘sasta (cheaper)' version of herself.  

Ekta said the actresses shouldn’t be pitted against each other and they both are brilliant actors. "There is only one similarity, both are amazing trailblazer women and to play them against each other is not your and my job. We're women, we adjust each other's crown not remove it," the producer told the media. 

Ekta also shared her experience of working with both the actresses and said, “It’s an amazing thing to collaborate with such amazing actors. If there’s an interesting project, I will only approach the actor and request them to read the script. So, it is a heartening thing to work with great actors. They bring in a lot more, Kangana is a brilliant actor and so is Taapsee." 

In March last year, Kangana Ranaut had called Taapsee a 'sasti' actor in one of her tweets. Kangana had written, "You will always remain sasti because you are sab rapists ka feminist... your ring master (Anurag) Kashyap was raided in 2013 as well for tax chori... government official’s report is out if you aren’t guilty go to court against them come clean on this ... come on sasti. “ 

Ekta Kapoor has worked with Kangana in ‘Judgemental Hai Kya’, she was also the producer of the reality show ‘Lock Upp’ which was hosted by Kangana Ranaut.  

She has collaborated with Taapsee for the first time in ‘Dobaaraa’. It is the first film under Balaji Motion Pictures' new wing, Cult Movies, which tells compelling, edgy & genre-bending stories.
