Dubbing Artist Srinivasa Murthy Passes Away; Suriya, Hrithik Roshan Pay Condolence

Srinivasa Murthy, a well-known dubbing artist from South India, passed away on Friday after suffering a cardiac arrest.

New Delhi: Srinivasa Murthy, a well-known dubbing artist from the south of India, passed away at his home in Chennai on Friday after suffering a cardiac arrest. He has worked with a number of well-known actors in Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam throughout the years, lending his voice to their films.

Murthy gained fame as the voice of Suriya in the Singam movies. He has also provided his voice for Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan in Telugu dubs of their movies. R Madhavan's ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ was his most recent project as a dubbing artist.

On Friday, January 27, Suriya went to Twitter to mourn the loss of dubbing artist Srinivasa Murthy and to honour his contribution to bringing his films to the Telugu audience. 

His post said: "This is a huge personal loss! Srinivasamurthy Garu’s voice & emotions gave life to my performances in Telugu. Will miss you Dear Sir! Gone too soon."

Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan also penned a touching letter. The actor turned to his Twitter account to convey his deepest sympathies to the family of Srinivasa Murthy, an artist whose work he really admired. He wrote, "Rest in Peace Srinivasa Murthy Sir. The voice that empowered me to reach my Telugu audience. A contribution to cinema that will be missed."

The late dubbing artist lent his voice to the films ‘Bang Bang,’ ‘Krrish,’ ‘Krrish3,’ ‘Kaabil,’ and ‘Dhoom 2,’ all of which starred Hrithik Roshan.

His efforts paid off, as he was recognised with many accolades, including the Nandi Award for Best Male Dubbing Artist for the Telugu film Shivayya in 1998.
