'Dobaaraa' Box Office Collection, Day 2: Taapsee Pannu Starrer Witnesses Growth

Taapsee Pannu's 'Dobaaraa' had a lackluster day one at the box office and it managed to earn only Rs 72 lacs on Friday. The film witnessed growth on the second day and has collected Rs 1.02 crore.

New Delhi: Taapsee Pannu's 'Dobaaraa' has got good reviews from the critics but the film had a lackluster day one at the box office and it managed to earn only Rs 72 lacs on Friday. Anurag Kashyap’s directorial has witnessed growth on the second day and has collected Rs 1.02 crore. Though the film has shown growth, the total is on the lower side.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the box office report of the film. He wrote, “DoBaaraa witnesses growth on Day 2... A major chunk of its biz is coming from premium multiplexes... The 2-day total, however, is on the lower side... Needs to have miraculous growth on Day 3 to cover lost ground... Fri 72 lacs, Sat 1.02 cr. Total: ₹ 1.74 cr. #India biz.”

Before the release of their film, Taapsee Pannu and Anurag Kashyap had commented on the boycott calls for Hindi films. While speaking with India Today Taapsee said, “Please everyone boycott our film, Dobaaraa. I want to be in the same league as Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan. I feel left out."

Anurag also had the same respone. He said , "Yes please, I want our film to trend on the boycott hashtag as well."

The film, which is a remake of the Spanish film ‘Mirage’, is produced by Shobha Kapoor & Ektaa R Kapoor's Cult Movies, a new wing under Balaji Telefilms and Sunir Kheterpal & Gaurav Bose (Athena).

'Dobaaraa' Review
ABP Live’s review of the film describes ‘Dobaaraa’ as a slow-with-intense-burn-feel thriller charm of the pre-internet, mobile phone era of the 90s.

The review read: “In terms of actor's performance, both Taapsee and Pavail are best suited for their parts. Taapsee brings an unwritten emotional depth to Antara and her confusion, urgency make the realistic portrayal of her character even more spot on. Pavail's character, on one hand, does not look like it's been chalked out so well despite his attempt at an earnest performance.

For a film like 'Dobaaraa', you have to have a kind of mathematical exactitude on how to cut between timelines, set a standard pace, keep the plot relatable, interlace the story with music, and Anurag Kashyap manages to do exactly that. “
