Shatrughan Sinha has reacted to poet Kumar Vishwas’s veiled remark on Sonakshi Sinha and her interfaith marriage to Zaheer Iqbal. Kumar Vishwas’s comment came a few days after Mukesh Khanna criticised Sonakshi for failing to answer a question related to the 'Ramayana' on Kaun Banega Crorepati. Although Sonakshi responded strongly, Khanna later expressed regret, promising to be more mindful in the future. 

What Kumar Vishwas said

The matter took a new turn with Kumar Vishwas’s comment during a poetry event in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Vishwas said, “Teach your children the Ramayana and make them listen to the Gita. Otherwise, even though your house is named 'Ramayana,' someone else might take away the 'Lakshmi' of your household.” 

This cryptic statement sparked outrage, with politicians Surendra Rajput and Supriya Shrinate condemning the remarks on social media. Taking to X, Shatrughan Sinha addressed the situation comprehensively in a series of tweets.

Sharing details of the controversy and responses, Sinha expressed pride in how Sonakshi handled the situation. He tweeted, “For your perusal, understanding & appreciation forwarding here a recent episode of statements, actions & counter-reactions by/on the apple of our eye #SonakshiSinha who always has my full support, love & blessings. Must say she has handled the matter wisely, timely & very well. Her response has been highly appreciated & applauded.” 

Sinha also extended gratitude to Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput and Supriya Shrinate, calling their support invaluable. “Extremely touched by the gesture, great response, by some of our beautiful friends, especially our favorite friend learned, ace spokesperson, Congress party/country @ssrajputINC & also by 'wonder woman' woman of substance @SupriyaShrinate whose oratory is matchless - she comes out with unbeatable logic, has also responded in a very deserving & highly appreciated manner,” he added.

Sinha acknowledged Mukesh Khanna’s apology and declared the issue closed on behalf of Sonakshi and their family. “Now that the gentleman #MukeshKhanna has also replied/responded, the matter is closed from Sonakshi & our side. Do we need to say anything more? Sharing the various views for your information & understanding. Jai Hind!” 

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot in a private, registered ceremony at their Mumbai home on June 23.
