New Delhi: Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has made the decision to take a one-year break from her film career in order to prioritize her health. After informing the producers of her ongoing commitments, Samantha will not be signing any new Telugu or Bollywood films during this period. The actress plans to utilize this time to focus on her well-being, recover her health, and seek additional treatment.
Samantha’s publicist, Mahendra, confirmed the news to Indianexpress.com. He shared, “It’s true that Samantha won’t be taking on any new projects for one year as she is all set to leave for the USA for the treatment of her autoimmune condition, Myositis. If her condition improves earlier than expected, she may return within six months. However, the planned duration of her break is one year. She is already making good progress in her recovery, and her doctors have advised her to take mandatory rest. Samantha will depart for the US in the fourth week of August (Aug. 20).”
Samantha's choice to step away from the limelight comes after she revealed in late 2022 that she had been diagnosed with a condition called Myositis, which is an autoimmune disorder. She has been undergoing treatment for this condition and has been dealing with the challenges it presents on a daily basis. Despite facing difficulties, Samantha remains determined and resilient, refusing to let her health condition define her. In a heartfelt note shared on Instagram, she expressed her gratitude for the strength and peace she has found through prayers and introspection, and she acknowledged that not everything in life goes as planned.
During the past year, Samantha has experienced ups and downs in her recovery journey. Some days are more challenging than others, but she maintains a positive outlook and an unwavering fighting spirit. She emphasized that she is not facing a life-threatening condition, but rather a draining and tiring autoimmune condition that requires her attention and care.
The actress has been actively working on various film projects, including "Kushi" with Vijay Deverakonda and "Citadel India" with Varun Dhawan. However, she is now focused on completing her current commitments before taking her well-deserved break. "Kushi," directed by Siva Nirvana, is a romantic drama slated for release on September 1, 2023, while "Citadel India," helmed by Raj & DK, is expected to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in September 2023.
Her openness about her struggles and determination to fight against her condition have earned her admiration from fans and industry colleagues alike. As Samantha embarks on this year-long hiatus, her supporters eagerly await her return to the screen, knowing that she will come back stronger and continue to captivate audiences with her talent and resilience.
