Salman Khan’s Team Clarifies The Actor Has No Association With The Great Indian Kapil Show Amid Ongoing Legal Dispute

A spokesperson for Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has clarified that neither the actor nor his production company, SKTV, is connected to Netflix’s show 'The Great Indian Kapil Show'.

In light of recent reports, a spokesperson for Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has clarified that neither the actor nor his production company, SKTV, is connected to Netflix’s show 'The Great Indian Kapil Show'. The clarification comes as rumours circulated about SKTV receiving a legal notice tied to complaints raised against the show.

Salman Khan has no association with The Great Indian Kapil Show

The statement read, “We are not associated with ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ on Netflix. Certain sections of the media are reporting that Salman Khan / SKTV have also received the notice, which is incorrect as we are not associated with The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix.”

The statement also confirmed that SKTV is not involved in any aspect of the show’s production or its legal issues.

Legal notice against The Great Indian Kapil Show

The Bongo Bhashi Mahasabha Foundation (BBMF), represented by Dr. Mondal and legal advisor Nripendra Krishna Roy, recently issued a notice alleging that ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ negatively portrays cultural icons, particularly Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

According to the notice, BBMF contends that the show has "tarnished" Tagore’s legacy and has the potential to offend religious and cultural sentiments in India. BBMF has voiced concerns about the show’s portrayal of cultural symbols, which it claims may misrepresent Tagore's contributions and impact.

The Great Indian Kapil Show's response

However, in response to these allegations, the legal representatives for ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’, Parinam Law Associates, have denied any wrongdoing, underscoring that the show is purely a comedy series meant for entertainment.

“The Great Indian Kapil Show is a comedic program intended solely for entertainment, with no intention to disrespect or misrepresent Rabindranath Tagore’s legacy,” the response read.

Currently in its second season, ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’—hosted by popular comedian Kapil Sharma—premiered on Netflix on September 21, featuring a cast that includes Archana Puran Singh, Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, and Rajiv Thakur.
