Ranveer Allahbadia’s ‘Sex With Parents’ Joke On Samay Raina's India’s Got Latent Lifted From Another Show?

On Monday, Ranveer Allahbadia issued an apology for his remark on Samay Raina's show India's Got Latent, which even caught the attention of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Comedian Samay Raina has often found himself embroiled in controversies, from the backlash over his remarks about Kusha Kapila’s marriage and divorce during a roast show last year to the latest uproar surrounding his new YouTube show, India’s Got Latent. This time, the controversy escalated after YouTuber-podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia made an inappropriate ‘joke’ on the show, triggering widespread outrage online.

The backlash soon extended beyond social media, leading to formal complaints against the show's makers, judges, and participants.

During an interaction with a contestant on India’s Got Latent, Ranveer, known for his channel BeerBiceps, asked, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop?” A clip of the exchange quickly went viral, drawing severe criticism for its perceived tastelessness.

Ranveer Allahbadia apologises for his remark on Samay Raina's show

On Monday, Ranveer Allahbadia issued an apology for his remark, which even caught the attention of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. “My comment was not just inappropriate, it was not even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I’m sorry,” he stated. His apology came shortly after Fadnavis commented on the controversy, cautioning against the misuse of free speech—though he admitted he had yet to watch the clip himself.

Is Ranveer's Joke Copied?

Adding a new twist to the matter, netizens have discovered that the controversial joke wasn’t even original. It was lifted from a recent “Truth or Drink” video by comedians Sammy Walsh and Alan Fang on their YouTube channel OG Crew. Originally delivered by Walsh, the joke appeared in a video released two weeks ago, which has since garnered over three million views.

As backlash against Ranveer Allahbadia continues to mount, the revelation of joke plagiarism has only intensified criticism. Meanwhile, on Monday, a member of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) sent a letter to YouTube, stating that the commission had “taken cognisance” of the matter and urging the platform to take “urgent action” by removing the India’s Got Latent episode.
