Businessman Raj Kundra, husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, has opened up about his ongoing legal challenges and the role of the media in shaping public opinion about him and his family. Kundra, who was taken into custody in 2021 by Mumbai Police over accusations related to producing and distributing pornographic content, has repeatedly refuted the claims, maintaining that his business dealings were entirely lawful.
Raj Kundra denies any involvement in producing pornographic content
In a conversation with ANI, Raj said, “Till date, I have not been a part of any pornography, any production, nothing to with porn at all. When this allegation came to light, it was very hurtful. The reason the bail happened was because there were no facts or evidence to this. I know I have not done anything wrong. As far as running an App is concerned, there was a listed company in my son's name and we used to provide technology services. We provided technology services to my brother-in-law's company Kenrin, in which he had launched an App running from the UK, it was bold for sure, it was made for the older audience, these were A-rated films but they were not pornographic at all...As far as my involvement is concerned, it is purely been a technology provider...Let a girl come forward who says that I have met Raj Kundra or worked in any of his movies, or has Raj Kundra ever produced any movie...Media says Raj Kundra is the kingpin of all 13 Apps, I am involved in the participation of software technology only and nothing wrong was being run in that App.”
In 2022, Raj Kundra faced another challenge when he was detained for 63 days in connection with a money laundering case. Talking about the case, he said, “It was a painful time, but I thank the judiciary for granting me bail. If there was any truth to the accusations, bail would have been impossible. When you do business in this country, you make both friends and enemies. I suspect this could be vendetta, but I am confident that the truth will emerge.”
Raj Kundra is confident of clearing his name
Kundra is confident he will clear his name. “I am confident I will clear my name. Facts will surface, and justice will prevail. I have never evaded questioning. I’ve been present every time I was summoned, barring one instance due to an injury, which I promptly communicated.”
On "dragging Shilpa Shetty" in the controversy
Kundra expressed his displeasure with the media for involving his wife, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, in the controversies surrounding him.
“Shilpa Shetty has earned such a big name for herself here; she has worked so hard. It is so unfair that the controversy is mine, and you are involving my wife’s name. Why? Because you get clickbait? You are spoiling her reputation for views. She has nothing to do with this, so why involve her? Just because I am her husband?” said Kundra.
