Rahul Roy Says Salman Khan Paid Hospital Bills After 'Aashiqui' Actor Rahul Roy Suffered Brain Stroke In 2020; Says 'He Is A Gem'

Rahul had suffered a brain stroke while shooting for his film 'LAC-Live the Battle' in Ladakh in 2020.

New Delhi: 'Aashiqui' fame actor Rahul Roy recently revealed that Salman Khan helped him in paying a hospital bill at a crucial point in his life. Rahul had suffered a brain stroke while shooting for his film 'LAC-Live the Battle' in Ladakh in 2020. The actor had to be airlifted and was admitted to the Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai. His soul sister Priyanka Roy and brother-in-law had looked after him at the time. Recently, Priyanka and Rahul revealed that the brain stroke could have been avoided if the film's director had been careful and neglected the actor's condition.

Priyanka also revealed that Salman Khan had helped them by paying the pending hospital bill without creating any noise about it. Priyanka also recalled that her brother had the habit of calling her every day but while he was in Ladakh, he told her he cannot talk.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, he said, "He never does that to me, but he told me, ‘Today, no talk.’ I was like, ‘But you are not able to talk only, what’s wrong?’ Words were not properly formed and he was stammering. But he said, ‘It’s just cold.’ I thought let me give him a night and I called him the next morning, but he didn’t pick up."

Hours later, Priyanka got her brother on a video call through which she realized his health was deteriorating. She then called the film's director Nitin and requested him to look after Rahul. As per Priyanka, the director did not pay any heed and told her, "He (Rahul) is fine, don’t worry. I am a doctor, you don’t have to teach me.’ He happened to be a doctor, he was a doctor by profession and director by passion.”

Eventually, Rahul Roy was taken to a doctor in Kargil where he was told that the actor might have 'Aphasia due to a brain stroke or something'. After this, Priyanka intervened and got her brother airlifted to Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital.

Priyanka and her husband had difficulty arranging money for Rahul's hospital treatment. Nitin claimed to have helped the actor but Priyanka suggested that the money given by the filmmaker was Rahul's pending payment for the film. "That director said I am sending you money but I didn’t know that was his due money only. He kept telling my husband that I am helping you. He even put in the newspaper that I am helping Rahul Roy,” Priyanka said in the same interview.

During the time, Rahul shared that it was actor Suchitra Pillai who offered him financial help. Later, hospital bills were cleared by Salman Khan.

In the same interview, Rahul shared, "The pending bill of the hospital was cleared by Salman in February. He called and asked if he can be of any help and he helped. I am very thankful to him,” said Rahul. His sister added, “He never created a news out of it. This is not some kind of ceremony or award that you need to publish, I realised this man (Salman) is a gem.
