Nick Jonas Says Idea Of Malti Marie Entering Showbiz Is 'Scary' After What He And Priyanka Chopra Have Faced

Singer and actor Nick Jonas recently opened up about the possibility of his daughter, Malti Marie, following in his and Priyanka Chopra’s footsteps into the world of showbiz.

Nick Jonas said that while three-year-old Malti already shows an interest in singing, the choice will ultimately be hers.

Singer and actor Nick Jonas recently opened up about the possibility of his daughter, Malti Marie, following in his and Priyanka Chopra’s footsteps into the world of showbiz. Appearing on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show' alongside his co-star Adrienne Warren from the Broadway production 'The Last Five Years', Nick shared his thoughts on parenting and raising a child who already has a love for music.

The conversation began when Kelly Clarkson reflected on starting her own career at 19 and admitted she’s nervous about the idea of her kids entering the industry so young. Turning to Nick, she asked, “Would you let yours?”

In response, Nick said that while three-year-old Malti already shows an interest in singing, the choice will ultimately be hers. “We have talked about it a lot. It’s going to be her choice. We have a three-year-old, and she loves to sing. I think a career in entertainment is a wonderful career. It’s also scary as a parent to think about all the things that I went through, my wife has gone through in her career,” he said.

Reflecting on the pressures of fame and the unpredictability of the entertainment world, Nick added, “Your one job in life is to protect your kids, but it’s also to let them fly and live their life.”

Nick also shared a light moment from their family life, revealing that while Malti might be a budding singer, sports may not be her thing. “We once took her to practice, and she was not at all having it,” he laughed. “Anyway, she’s singing a ton.”

He credited his own parents for the freedom they gave him and his brothers growing up. “I’m so grateful to my parents for letting us take big risks and chances. I think they did a great job of balancing that support while also being a little scared at times,” he added.

The couple is currently spending time in New York, and Nick recently told PEOPLE that their daughter has taken a liking to the city. “She loves being in New York, and I think this time for us as a family has been wonderful. We’re so used to being in 10 different cities in 10 days. So to be in one place and have this time together has been really nice.”

With both Nick and Priyanka balancing hectic work schedules, the family has been finding ways to stay connected. “We’ve been exploring a bit and keeping her active and busy. We’re both obviously busy parents, but we’ve been finding time to spend as a family and connect amidst our crazy schedules, and it’s been lovely,” he said.
