Mukesh Khanna Criticises Kapil Sharma For Ignoring Him At Award Function, Calls His Show 'Obscene'

Mukesh Khanna voiced his frustration over Kapil Sharma's behaviour at an award ceremony, revealing that the comedian completely ignored him.

New Delhi: Mukesh Khanna, widely known for his iconic role as Shaktimaan, has opened up about why he declined to appear on Kapil Sharma’s popular chat show. He denied ever being contacted by the show’s producers and stated that even if he had been, he would have declined any request to appear on the show due to his strong feelings about its content, which he described as "obscene".

In an interview on Siddharth Kannan's podcast, Mukesh Khanna recounted an instance in which Kapil Sharma failed to offer him even a basic welcome at an awards ceremony while sitting right next to him. He said, "I had bagged an award for best-supporting actor. He also appeared there, maybe he was shooting somewhere there in the film city. Now, in our industry, even if we have not worked with each other, we ask each other, ‘Kaise hai aap sir (how are you, sir) ?.’ It’s a gesture."

He went on to remark, "Forget my seniority, he (Kapil) kept sitting next to me for ten minutes but he didn’t even say ‘hello!’. It’s not that I want him to say hello but I say you have no courtesy." Mukesh Khanna compared this to his own method, explaining that he never worked with Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan but always makes sure to check on him when they meet.

Furthermore, Mukesh Khanna said that Kapil Sharma could have refrained from contacting him for a guest appearance on his show out of "ego" or "shame".  He went on to say that he doesn't like the show's content since they're mostly rooted in "ashlilta" (indecency or obscene) and "below the belt jokes."
