A viral video that surfaced recently on Instagram has sparked widespread discussion about the state of general knowledge among Indian youth. In the clip, a group of young individuals struggles to name the current President of India, with some offering incorrect answers and others simply admitting they don’t know. The clip quickly gained traction online for its comic yet concerning display of ignorance, eventually drawing the attention of actor and Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut.
Kangana reacts to the viral video
On Saturday, she reacted to the video via Instagram Stories, sharing a screenshot of a participant who failed to identify President Droupadi Murmu. Alongside the image, Kangana wrote, “War won't kill us but grasshopper brain cell generation surely will,” a stinging remark highlighting her disappointment.

What is in the video?
The video, originally posted in April by Instagram page Gen Z Pulse, featured a host asking a group of girls, “Who is the President of India?” The responses range from vague guesses to flat-out inaccuracies. One girl hesitantly says, “I forgot his name,” incorrectly assuming the President is a man. Another fumbles through a response, saying, “Murunali... I don’t know. Murunu or something.” Some answers were even more off the mark—a participant named former President Ram Nath Kovind, while another confidently stated “Jawahar Lal Nehru,” mistakenly believing he was India’s first President, despite Nehru being the country’s first Prime Minister.
While the video was originally uploaded in April, it recently gained renewed visibility, prompting conversations around the effectiveness of the education system and media influence on young minds.
