Kangana Ranaut Is Back With The Term 'Nepo Babies', This Time It Is For Rahul And Priyanka Gandhi

Kangana Ranaut, who recently joined the BJP, accused the Congress of perpetuating nepotism and took aim at its leaders, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi.

New Delhi: Kangana Ranaut, who recently joined the BJP, accused the Congress of perpetuating nepotism and took aim at its leaders, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi. Speaking at a recent event, Ranaut, who is contesting from the Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, didn't mince her words in criticising the opposition party.

Kangana on Congress party
"The Congress has always been an appalling party for me. The nepotism in the party has been hugely problematic for me because I was a target of the same system in my (film) industry. I had condemned it openly, I fought against it. Something that was exploiting me... Nepotism, groupism, dynastic politics... I despise this party," she said at the Times Now Summit 2024 - India Unstoppable

Describing the Gandhi siblings, she bluntly labelled them as "nepo kids," adding, "They are weird as if they have landed from Mars."

Ranaut, 37, asserted her allegiance to the BJP, stating, "Regardless of whether I'm a party member or not, I have always fought for the party's cause. I have left no stone unturned." She affirmed her alignment with a "nationalistic government" and proclaimed herself to have a "glorious right-wing personality."

On her political debut
Regarding her political debut, Ranaut admitted to feeling anxious, describing it as a complete lifestyle change. “It's a complete lifestyle change. It's nerve wracking. It's a new role... I will be a horse with blinkers on. Suddenly this world has opened up. I want to do it well. I want to be more involved with the real world as opposed to being consumed by the field of arts," Ranaut said.

Kangana Ranaut also stated that her decision to enter politics is not driven by the box office debacle of her recent films.

"No actor has only had hits in their career. Shah Rukh Khan's films didn't work for 10 years and then 'Pathaan' became a hit. My films didn't work for seven-eight years, but then 'Queen' worked. Then, some more good films came, then after three-four years, 'Manikarnika' worked," Ranaut said.

"Now, 'Emergency' is coming. Maybe it will become a hit. We are the last generation of stars... OTT doesn't make stars. We are known faces. By the grace of God, we are very much in demand," she added.
