New Delhi: The youngest son of Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani, Anant Ambani, got rokafied to Radhika Merchant today. They reportedly held their roka ceremony in Rajasthan earlier on Thursday at the Shrinathji temple in Nathdwara.

"Anant and Radhika have known each other for a few years and today’s ceremony commences the formal journey of their marriage in the coming months. Both families seek the blessings and good wishes of everyone for Radhika and Anant as they start their journey of togetherness," a press release stated.

Radhika and Anant are said to have been childhood sweethearts. She frequently attends gatherings with the Ambani family.

When Radhika performed at Isha Ambani's engagement ceremony alongside the bride and Shloka Mehta, Akash Ambani's wife, the couple's relationship first gained attention.

At the Jio World Centre in Mumbai, Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani staged an extravagant 'arangetram' ceremony for Radhika back in June. It was Radhika's debut on-stage 'arangetram', or dance performance. She is a trained Indian classical dancer.

Radhika graduated from New York University, whereas Anant attended Brown University in the US. Anant is being prepared to succeed his father at Reliance Industries Ltd., an oil-to-telecom-to-retail giant. Meanwhile, in 2017, Radhika began working as a sales professional for the privately owned, upscale villas company Isprava. She also serves as a director on the Encore Healthcare board.

Meanwhile, Anant is the youngest of the three children the Ambanis have, which also includes twins Akash and Isha. Akash married the diamond tycoon Russell Mehta's daughter Shloka in 2019, and the couple has a kid named Prithvi. Isha gave birth to twins Aadiya and Krishna last month after marrying Piramal Group heir Anand Piramal in 2018. 

On the other hand, Radhika Merchant is the daughter of Encore Healthcare CEO Viren Merchant. For now, the families have not specified a date for the wedding.
