On His 54th Birthday, Akshay Kumar Shares Unseen PIC With Late Mother, Says ‘Sure Mom Is Singing Happy Birthday To Me’

Akshay Kumar on Wednesday took to Twitter to express his grief and said his mother passed away peacefully.

On his 54th birthday on Thursday, Akshay Kumar posted a throwback picture with his late mother Aruna Bhatia on social media and along with it he penned an emotional note .The picture features Akshay and his mother who is seen planting a kiss on her son's cheek.

"Would have never liked it this way but am sure mom is singing Happy Birthday to me from right up there! Thanks to each one of you for your condolences and wishes alike. Life goes on,"Akshay wrote alongside the image, which currently has 1.1. million likes on the photo-sharing website.

Akshay Kumar's mother, was admitted to Mumbai's Hiranandani Hospital, where she was in the ICU, died on Wednesday morning. Akshay took to Twitter to express his grief."She was my core. And today I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence," he wrote and said his mother passed away peacefully.
"My maa... Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti," he wrote.

For the uninitiated, Akshay Kumar was in the UK and returned to Mumbai to be with his mom earlier this week when her health condition detoriated.

On work front, the actor was last seen in the espionage thriller Bell Bottom with Lara Dutta, Huma Qureshi and Vaani Kapoor. He will soon star in Bachchan Pandey and will also feature in Prithviraj, which is a biopic of Prithviraj Chauhan.

Akshay Kumar awaits the release of his multi-starrer Sooryavanshi, which is expected to release in theatres this year.
