'Tapori Language, Disrespect To Hindu Deities': Adipurush Faces Backlash As Oppn Parties Demand Apology From Filmmakers

Adipurush is embroiled in controversy, with opposition parties criticising the film for its inappropriate dialogue and crude portrayal of Hindu mythological characters.

Om Raut's latest film, 'Adipurush,' a cinematic adaptation of the revered Sanskrit epic Ramayana, has sparked heated debate and strong reactions from opposition parties. The film's use of colloquial language and subpar portrayal of deities has been criticised as an "insult" to the Hindu religion. Since its release, the film has received widespread acclaim for its impressive visual effects, contentious dialogue that has offended some viewers, and overall performance of the star-studded cast. As an adaptation of a widely revered epic in the country, 'Adipurush' has sparked debate and controversy.

AAP Criticises 'Adipurush' For Offensive Dialogues And Disrespect Towards Hindu Gods

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) strongly condemned the film 'Adipurush' on Saturday for its objectionable dialogue and alleged derogatory depiction of Hindu deities.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh criticised the film claiming that it disrespected Hinduism and accusing BJP leaders of endorsing such content. Singh was extremely disappointed with the dialogue in the film, claiming that it would make listeners feel ashamed.

He demanded an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President JP Nadda. Singh went on to criticise the BJP, calling it a party of hooligans with arrogance when it comes to religion.

"You will feel ashamed if you listen to the dialogue of this movie. BJP is a party of ruffians and is also showing arrogance in religion. Narendra Modi ji, and JP Nadda ji should apologise. BJP people neither belong to Lord Ram, nor belong to common people, nor are they of any use," Singh said.

He further said that BJP members do not represent Lord Ram, the common people, or make any significant contributions to society.

Congress Slams 'Adipurush' For Using "Tapori" Language

The Congress party has joined the chorus of condemnation for the film 'Adipurush,' calling its language "tapori" and accusing it of being in the "business of religion." Supriya Shrinate, Congress's social media head, emphasised the contrast between the film and Siyaram's portrayal in the original Ramayana. Shrinate emphasised that the epic's author had created a sweet, gentle, and endearing image of Siyaram that had left an indelible impression on society. In her opinion, the film's use of colloquial language and commercialization of religious themes exemplified the difference between genuine religious sentiments and the commercialisation of religion.

Shiv Sena MP Demands Apology From Filmmakers

Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has joined the growing chorus of criticism directed at the filmmakers of 'Adipurush,' expressing her strong displeasure with the film's dialogue writing. Chaturvedi demanded that the filmmakers apologise to the entire country for their portrayal of the revered Hindu epic Ramayana.

Taking to Twitter, she stated that seeing derogatory language associated with their revered deities in the name of entertainment deeply hurt the sensibilities of every Indian. Chaturvedi stressed that crossing all boundaries of decency and respect for the sake of quick box office success was completely unacceptable, especially when making a film about the revered figure of Maryada Purushottam Ram.

Hindu Sena Files Writ Petition Against Adipurush, Nepal Halts Release Of Film

The Hindu Sena has taken legal action, filing a Writ petition against the film 'Adipurush' at the Delhi High Court, requesting that it not be certified for public exhibition.

The Hindu Sena claimed in the petition that 'Adipurush' has deeply offended the Hindu community by portraying religious leaders, characters, and figures in an inaccurate and inappropriate manner.

The screening of Adipurush in Kathmandu, Nepal, was halted on Friday, June 16, a day after Mayor Balen Shah warned that no Indian film would be allowed in the Nepal capital if the film based on the Hindu epic Ramayana did not correct the mistake about Sita's birthplace. The Nepal Film Union has urged all Kathmandu cinemas to stop screening Adipurush, and cinemas outside the capital to do so only after assessing the security situation.

Prabhas and Kriti Sanon's 'Adipurush' stars Kriti Sanon as Sita, Saif Ali Khan as Ravana, and Sunny Singh as Laxman.
Adipurush, hailed as this year's most anticipated release, has been heavily trolled for its inappropriate dialogue and crass depiction of Hindu mythological figures.

The film has received widespread criticism for its inappropriate dialogue and crass depiction of Hindu mythological figures. A popular Ramayana story in which Lord Hanumana sets Ravana's Lanka on fire received harsh criticism. Lord Hanumana is shown in the film saying, "Kapda tere baap ka. Tel tere baap ka. Aag bhi tere baap ki. Toh jalegi bhi tere baap ki."
