‘Was Asked To Arrange Rs 50 Lakh’: BSP Worker In Tears After Being Denied Ticket | WATCH

Expressing his woes, BSP worker Arshad Rana said that he was promised a ticket by the party but denied at the last moment despite putting up hoardings for the upcoming assembly polls.

New Delhi: A video of a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader has gone viral on social media where he can be seen bitterly crying after being denied a ticket to contest the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Expressing his woes, BSP worker Arshad Rana said that he was promised a ticket by the party but denied at the last moment despite putting up hoardings for the upcoming assembly polls.

“I feel humiliated. I never thought this would happen. They made me sit inside (the office) and told me that they have picked someone else to contest the polls instead of me,” he said weeping in the video posted by ANI on Twitter.

The BSP worker alleged that he was asked to arrange Rs 50 lakh and said that he has already paid Rs 4.5 lakh.

“I have been working for 24 years. I was formally declared the candidate from Charthawal in 2018 (for 2022 UP polls)…I have been trying to get in touch with the party but there has been no proper response. I have been told to arrange Rs 50 lakh...I had already paid about Rs 4.5 lakh,” he added.

There is, however, no official reaction yet from the BSP top brass with regard to Rana’s claims.

Earlier this week, BSP general secretary SC Misra said the party had already decided at least 300 of its total 403 candidates for Uttar Pradesh. Of these, 90 are Dalits, he had said.

Mayawati has already announced that the BSP was seeking to go with its 2007 winning formula encompassing Dalits and Brahmins in the February-March polls.

Voting for the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly will be held in seven phases from February 10 to March 7. The counting of votes will be held on March 10.
