UP Election 2022: BJP Minister SP Singh Baghel To Contest Against SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav From Karhal Seat
MP from the Agra Lok Sabha seat Baghel has filed his nomination to fight the Uttar Pradesh election from the Karhal assembly seat.
UP Election 2022: Hours after Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav filed his nomination from the Karhal constituency in Mainpuri for the Assembly election in Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party fielded Union Minister SP Singh Baghel against Akhilesh.
A Member of the Parliament (MP) from the Agra Lok Sabha seat Baghel has filed nomination to fight the Uttar Pradesh election from the Karhal assembly seat.

Notably, Karhal in the Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh is a stronghold of the Samajwadi Party represented by founder Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Earlier in the day, Akhilesh Yadav filed his nomination from the Karhal assembly seat and tweeted in Hindi, "This 'nomination' is a 'mission' because UP elections will script history! Let’s take part in this movement of a positive and optimistic approach and defeat negative politics".

After filing his nomination Akhilesh also spoke to the media and said, "First of all, I want to thank the people of Mainpuri and the people of the organisation, who have given me a chance that today I am nominated from Karhal for contesting the elections. I am going to do it."
It is for the first time that Akhilesh Yadav would be contesting from the Karhal constituency of Mainpuri. Election for the assembly seat will be held on February 20, which falls in the third phase of the polls.
Elections for 403 Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven phases (February 10, February 14, February 20, February 23, February 27, March 3, and March 7). The counting of the votes will take place on March 10
