UP ByPolls 2024: Ahead Of UP Bypolls Vote Counting, SP Demands Re-Election At 52 Booths
The BJP and Samajwadi Party traded accusations during the Uttar Pradesh by-elections, with the Samajwadi Party accusing the BJP of misusing the administration.
UP Bypolls 2024 Result: The counting of votes for the nine assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh will take place on November 23, Saturday. Although, the results of these nine seats will not have any impact on the government of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in the state, this election is being seen as the semi-final of the proposed assembly elections in 2027.
Voting took place on November 20 in the Ghaziabad Sadar, Meerapur, Kundarki, Khair, Sisamau, Phulpur, Katehari, Mazhawan and Karhal assembly constituencies. There were also reports of sporadic violence in Kundarki and Meerapur during the voting.
On the day of voting, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Samajwadi Party accused each other of inciting violence and resorting to electoral malpractices. The SP accused the BJP of misusing the administration. The BJP, on the other hand, claimed that the SP workers were indulging in hooliganism. The SP has now demanded that re-polling be held at 52 booths in Meerapur.
SP is contesting all nine seats, the BJP is contesting 8 seats and the RLD is contesting 1 seat.
Ghaziabad
One of the 9 assembly seats in the UP by-elections was Ghaziabad Sadar. Here, the total number of voters was 461644, out of which 1,53,747 votes were cast. The counting of votes in Ghaziabad will be done at the Anaj Mandi in Govindpuram. There will be 25 rounds of counting to count the votes. Votes from 21 machines will be counted in each round. The main contest is between Sanjeev Sharma of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Singh Raj Jatav of the SP. The total polling percentage was 33.30.
Phulpur
All preparations for the counting of votes at the Phulpur Assembly seat in Prayagraj have been completed at the Mundera Mandi. A total of 103 personnel have been deployed for the counting. 14-14 tables have been set up for the counting, which will take place in 32 rounds.
Only one table will be used for counting in the final round. The counting will start at 8:00 AM. The results are expected to come by 2:00 pm. Tight security arrangements have been made at the Mundera Mandi for the counting. The EVMs have been kept in the strong room under three-tier security. Magistrates have been deployed for the counting.
Mobile or electronic devices are prohibited inside the counting venue. A total of 12 candidates are in the fray for the Phulpur Assembly seat. Only 43.44% of the total electorate exercised their right to franchise in the voting held on November 20. The main contest on this seat is considered to be between BJP candidate Deepak Patel and Samajwadi Party candidate Mohammad Mujtaba Siddiqui.
Sisamau
The counting of votes for the by-election on the Sisamau seat in Kanpur will start at 8 am, November 23. There will be 20 rounds of counting of votes. The fate of the candidates is locked in 275 EVMs.
