Telangana Polls: BJP Writes To EC, Accuses BRS Candidates, Workers Of Electoral Malpractice Amid Voting

Telangana BJP chief Reddy has written a letter to the EC and the Chief Electoral Officer of the state accusing BRS candidates and party workers of electoral malpractice.

Telangana Elections: As the voting is underway for the Telangana Assembly Election, state Bharatiya Janata Party president and MP G Kishan Reddy has written a letter to the Election Commission and the Chief Electoral Officer of the state accusing Bharat Rashtra Samithi candidates and party workers of electoral malpractice.

Earlier in the day, a scuffle broke out between Congress, BRS and BJP workers while voting was underway for Telangana Assembly Election. The incident took place at a polling station in Jangaon Assembly Constituency. However, a contingent of police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The contingent reached the spot and resorted to mild lathi charge. They then dispersed the mob after bringing the situation under control.

The voting for 119-member Telangana Legislative Assembly began at 7 am at 35,655 polling stations across the state amid heavy security. Over 77,000 security personnel have been deployed across the state to ensure law and order situation during the polls. State police and Home Guards drawn from the state and neighbouring states have been deployed on poll duty, besides 375 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), reported PTI.

In 2018, BRS (then Telangana Rashtra Samithi) won 88 of the 119 seats and had 47.4 per cent of the vote share. The Congress came a distant second with just 19 seats. The counting of votes, along with that in four other states will take place up on December 3.

Over the past decade, K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has been leading Telangana as its Chief Minister, overseeing substantial development and transformation since the state's formation in 2014. As the Telangana Assembly election approaches, KCR is actively vying for a third term, facing his most formidable electoral challenge to date.
