Telangana Polls: PM Modi Urges People To Vote, Strengthen Festival Of Democracy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the people of Telangana to exercise their voting rights in this election and strengthen the festival of democracy,

As the polling for Telangana Assembly Elections 2023 begins, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called upon the people of the state on Thursday to step out of their houses and vote in record numbers to strengthen the festival of democracy. The Prime Minister especially encouraged first-time voters to exercise their franchise by voting in this election.

PM Modi took to X to write, "I call upon my sisters and brothers of Telangana to vote in record numbers and strengthen the festival of democracy. I particularly urge young and first-time voters to exercise their franchise."

Telangana is witnessing a three-cornered fight between the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and the Congress.

While the BRS is trying to retain its power in the state by focusing on welfare schemes, the other two parties are trying to woo the voters with their promises.

The 'pink party' has promised the people of Telangana that superfine rice will be distributed through the Public Distribution System, a monthly honorarium of Rs 3,000 will be given for women, Rs 5 lakh insurance coverage will be extended to BPL families and farmers' allowance will be increased from Rs 10,000 per year to Rs 16,000 in a staggered manner. Chief Minister KCR has said that all these promises will be implemented within six months of taking over office.

The BJP on the other hand has sent shockwaves among the citizens by announcing that it will end the religion-based reservation quota system in the state and then also promising to implement the Uniform Civil Code within six months of coming into power.

Meanwhile, the Congress has promised that young women getting married in Telangana will be offered 10 gms of gold and cash of Rs one lakh whereas the eligible women will get electric scooters free of cost. It has also promised free 24-hour electricity for agricultural use, mega recruitment to fill teacher vacancies within six months of taking office, Rs 2 lakh crop loan waiver and interest-free crop loans up to Rs 3 lakh annually.

The results of the Assembly Elections will be announced on December 3.
