Law declared by SC binding on all; K'nataka Guv should not act illegally: Congress
It will be unconstitutional if the Governor does not invite JDS-Congress alliance to form government, said the Congress stalwarts.
New Delhi: Soon after the BJP MLA claimed that Yeddyurappa is going to be the new CM of Karnataka, Congress held a Press Conference and said that it doubts that the Governor of Karnataka may invite Yeddyurappa tomorrow for forming the government.
In the special press conference by Rajya Sabha MPs P Chidambaram, Vivek Tankha , Kabil Sibal and Communications In-charge RS Surjewala at All India Congress Committee Headquarters.
"Congress & JD(S) clearly establish majority yet Governor hasn't taken decision to invite Kumaraswamy to form govt. We heard Guv may have invited BS Yeddyurappa but since it is not confirmed we are proceeding on basis that Guv has not decided to invite anyone" said P Chidambaram.
‘If the Governor decided in BJP’s favour, this will be in clear contradiction to the Supreme Court’s verdict on the case of Goa elections’, said Chidambaram. “We are going to fight the injustice with full force. We are considering all the options for it. We are waiting for the formal verdict, we will then decide upon the course of action to be taken,” they said. "To say that governor’s decision is unreviewable is incorrect" said Chidambaram. “This government has degraded constitution like never seen before. This government has shown an aggressive mode in legislature, judiciary and executive and is dangerous for the country,” said Kapil Sibal. Unofficial sources are claiming that BJP’s B S Yeddyurappa will be taking oath as the CM of Karnataka at 9:30 am on Thursday. “BS Yeddyurappa will be sworn in as Chief Minister of the state at Raj Bhavan tomorrow at 9.30 am," Suresh Kumar, who represents Rajajinagarar assembly constituency, wrote on Twitter in Kannada language. There was, however, no official communique from the Raj Bhavan. The BJP has emerged as the single largest party in the southern state winning 104 seats, but is short of simple majority. On the other hand, the Congress and JD(S), which have already announced post-poll tie-up, have won 78 and 37 seats respectively and claimed before Governor Vajubhai Vala to have numbers to form government in the state.Congress & JD(S) clearly establish majority yet Governor hasn't taken decision to invite Kumaraswamy to form govt.
