Congress's Guarantee Schemes Decades Old, Gareebi Hatao Was Its Biggest Lie: PM Modi In Ajmer
Modi on Wednesday reached Pushkar in Rajasthan's Ajmer district and offered prayers at the Brahma temple before addressing a rally.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday trained guns on incumbent Congress party in Rajasthan saying the guarantee schemes by the party is not new and that the 'Garibi Hatao' programme was its biggest lie. Addressing a public meeting in Ajmer, PM Modi said, "Congress's 'guarantee habit' is not new. 50 years back Congress gave a guarantee of removing poverty, it was the biggest lie. Congress' strategy has been to trick the poor. People of Rajasthan have suffered due to this," he said.
Further attacking the Congress party, PM Modi said, "...What was the situation prior to 2014? People were on the streets against corruption, there used to be terrorist attacks in big cities, Congress Govt was scared of building roads at borders, crime against women was high, there was a superpower above the PM, Congress Govt was functioning through a remote control...there was darkness before the youth...Today, India is being praised across the world..."
Speaking on vaccination drive in the country, he said, "...When there was Congress Govt, the vaccination coverage could reach only around 60%. At that time, 40 out of 100 women pregnant women and children could not receive life-saving vaccines. Had there been a Congress Govt (now), 100% vaccination coverage in the country would have taken 40 more years. Several generations would have passed by then. Can you imagine the number of poor women & children who would have died in the absence of life-saving vaccines?"
"Before coming to Ajmer, I had the opportunity to visit Pushkar. In our scriptures, Lord Brahma has been called the creator of the universe. With Lord Brahma's blessings, an era of new creation is going on in India. BJP-led NDA Govt in the Centre has completed 9 years. These 9 years have been dedicated to service to citizens, good governance and welfare of the poor," he said.
Modi on Wednesday reached Pushkar in Rajasthan's Ajmer district and offered prayers at the Brahma temple before addressing a rally. Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore said Modi reached the holy town in a helicopter after landing at the Kishangarh airport. Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled by helicopter to Kayad Vishram Sthali on the Jaipur road to address the rally, reported news agency PTI.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed a rally in Rajasthan’s Ajmer in the first major event in the state marking the BJP government’s nine years in power at the Centre. BJP has launched a mega month-long outreach campaign as it completed nine years of governance.
The State is also set to go to polls later this year where Congress is in power. However, the grand old party is caught in a leadership tussle between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his former deputy Sachin Pilot.
Union Ministers Arjun Ram Meghwal and Kailash Chaudhary, and other BJP leaders from Rajasthan also attended the event, reported PTI. Ajmer North MLA Vasudev Devnani said BJP workers from 45 assembly and eight Lok Sabha constituencies were mobilised for the rally.
Of these 45 assembly seats, 21 are held by the Congress, 19 by the BJP, three by independents and two by the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party, PTI reported. Over the past few weeks, Modi has also visited Rajsamand and Sirohi.
Earlier, Rajasthan BJP said around 4 lakh people from all over the state including 8 Lok Sabha and 45 Vidhansabha of the state would gather in the meeting. Hence, a huge pandal of about 4 lakh square feet was made for the meeting.
PM Modi's 6th Visit To Rajasthan In 8 Months
This visit by PM Modi to Ajmer was the sixth trip to Rajasthan in the last eight months. On May 10, PM Modi held a meeting at Abu Road in Sirohi and visited the Nathdwara temple. Earlier on February 12, Modi held a meeting in Dausa. On January 28, Modi held a meeting in Bhilwara's Asind.
Last year on November 1, Modi held an event at Mangarh Dham in Banswara and on November 30, Modi had come to Abu Road in Sirohi.
The BJP event comes after the Congress party announced on Monday that Gehlot and Pilot will be joining forces to combat the saffron party in the upcoming elections.
