'Wayanad Will Have Two Members In Parliament': Rahul Gandhi
Rahul Gandhi, who represented Wayanad in Parliament from 2019 to 2024, expressed his deep connection with the constituency.
Former Wayanad MP and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, addressing a massive crowd at Kalpetta, appealed to the people of Wayanad to extend their unwavering support and protection to his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. This came as Priyanka geared up to file her nomination for the upcoming Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll, marking a significant moment in her political journey.
Rahul Gandhi, who represented Wayanad in Parliament from 2019 to 2024, expressed his deep connection with the constituency. "You protected me when I needed it most," he told the gathering. He shared an emotional anecdote about the Rakhi he was wearing, which was made by his sister. "I don’t take it off till it breaks. It symbolizes a brother’s protection to his sister," he remarked, urging the people to look after Priyanka in the same way they cared for him.
In a unique declaration, Rahul told the crowd that Wayanad would now have two representatives in Parliament. "Priyanka will be the official MP from Wayanad, while I will be the unofficial one. We will both work together to safeguard and serve the people of Wayanad," he stated. Rahul emphasised that his bond with Wayanad extends beyond politics and that he would continue to actively engage with the region’s issues.
Priyanka has always been someone who would sacrifice anything for her family and friends, and this quality will make her an exceptional MP for Wayanad. To her, the people of Wayanad are family.

During his address, Rahul highlighted the personal strength of his sister, reflecting on her resilience during difficult times for their family. "My mother lost everything, my sister lost everything. But the person who looked after my mother was my sister. I am confident my sister is ready to sacrifice anything for her family. She considers the people of Wayanad as her family," he said.
The rally was attended by senior Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who is making her electoral debut, received a warm reception from thousands of supporters lining the streets in Kalpetta. Her roadshow ahead of filing her nomination showcased the overwhelming enthusiasm of the party faithful.
