Modi In Andhra: PM To Hold Public Meeting, Roadshow Ahead Of Lok Sabha Polls Phase 4 Voting

In the run-up to the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections on May 13, PM Modi is set to visit Andhra Pradesh today to address a public meeting and roadshow.

PM Modi In Andhra Pradesh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address an election meeting in Andhra Pradesh's Annamayya district and hold a roadshow at Vijayawada in NTR district on Wednesday. This will be PM Modi's third public meeting in the southern state in the run-up to the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections on May 13. Andhra Pradesh is set to go to polls in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 13.  All 25 seats in the southern state will witness voting in the next phase. 

The meeting is scheduled around 2 pm at Kaliri near Rajampeta while the roadshow is expected to commence around 5 pm from the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium on Bandar Road in Vijayawada. "Let's welcome our Prime Minister who is coming to Rajampeta to give an assurance for the aspirations of Andhra people," the Andhra Pradesh BJP said in a post on 'X' on Tuesday.

The latest public meeting comes in the wake of two recent meetings at Rajamahendravaram and Anakapalli recently, preceded by the first NDA election meeting at Boppudi village in Palnadu district's Chilakaluripeta mandal on March 17 after the announcement of the election schedule on March 16.

N Kiran Kumar is the BJP's Lok Sabha candidate from the Rajampeta constituency. He is pitted against the YSRCP's P Mithun Reddy, while the TDP's K Sivanath will take on his brother K Srinivas from the ruling party in the Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat. As part of a seat-sharing deal among NDA partners, the TDP was allocated 144 Assembly and 17 Lok Sabha constituencies while the BJP will contest from six Lok Sabha and 10 Assembly seats.

The ongoing Lok Sabha elections are set to be held in seven phases, and results will be declared on June 4. Meanwhile, voting in the third phase of the general elections was held in 92 seats across 12 states and Union Territories on Tuesday.

In the third phase, an approximate voter turnout of 61.45 per cent was recorded till 8 pm on Tuesday, the Election Commission said. Assam recorded the highest turnout at 75.26 per cent, followed by Goa (74.27 percent) and West Bengal (73.93 percent). Maharashtra recorded the lowest turnout among the states and Union Territories with 54.77 turnout, while Bihar and Gujarat recorded 56 per cent each.
