Congress Says Fawad Chaudhry Pressured By Nawaz Sharif To Comment On Rahul Gandhi For Modi's Benefit In Polls

Former Pakistan minister Fawad Hussain heaped praise on Rahul Gandhi as he shared a clip of the Congress leader on social media platform X.

The Congress party said on Thursday that the praise by former Pakistan Minister Fawad Hussain came under the pressure by Nawaz Sharif and his brother's government. On Wednesday, the former Pakistan minister in the Imran Khan cabinet shared a video of Rahul Gandhi with the caption "Rahul on fire..."

Congress leader Rashid Alvi said, "...The statement by Fawad Chaudhry is done under pressure by Nawaz Sharif and his brother's government. PM Modi has very good relations with Nawaz Sharif. This statement has come so that our Prime Minister can exploit it."

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot charged that Pakistan is one of BJP's tricks to win the elections. "Now the public is not going to fall for these tricks," he said.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said it should not be made an "India-Pakistan" issue, adding that Pakistan minister praises Prime Minister Narendra Modi also.

Reacting to the remark, Raut said, "Pakistan minister praises PM Modi also, don't do India and Pakistan in it. This is his view."

"India's election is witnessed by the whole world whether it's Afghanistan, America or Europe; so if a Pak minister thinks that changes are going to occur in India, it's going to happen then, what is in it," Raut said while speaking to news agency ANI.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi also reacted to the development, asserting that the Congress’s influence in India is waning, and now leaders of Pakistan want him to become the Prime Minister.

He also said that the “partnership” between Congress and Pakistan has been exposed now.

“Look at the coincidence, today Congress is getting weak in India. The funny thing is that here Congress is dying and there Pakistan is crying. Now Pakistani leaders are praying for Congress," Modi said during a poll rally in Gujarat's Anand.

Pakistan is eager to make the prince the Prime Minister,” he remarked, adding, “Congress is already a fan of Pakistan. This partnership between Pakistan and Congress has now been completely exposed”.
