AAP's Gamble With Manish Sisodia In Jangpura Seat Falls Flat On Its Face, BJP's Tarvinder Singh Bags Slim Win
AAP leader Manish Sisodia was defeated by BJP candidate Tarvinder Singh Marwah in the Jangpura Assembly election.

Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia was defeated by BJP candidate Tarvinder Singh Marwah in the Jangpura Assembly election.
After the defeat, Sisodia hoped that BJP will work for the people. "Party workers fought well; we all did hard work. People have supported us as well. But, I lost by 600 votes. I congratulate the candidate who won. I hope he will work for the constituency," he said conceding defeat.
In the previous Delhi Assembly elections in 2020, the Jangpura seat was won by Aam Aadmi Party candidate Praveen Kumar, who defeated Bharatiya Janata Party's Impreet Singh Bakshi, and former Indian National Congress leader Tarvinder Singh Marwah.
In another shock for AAP, party supremo Arvind Kejriwal lost from the high-profile New Delhi seat to BJP's Parvesh Verma. Meanwhile, in Kalkaji, Chief Minister and AAP candidate Atishi won, defeating BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri.
After the trends were out for all 70 seats, Arvind Kejriwal conceded AAP's defeat and congratulated the BJP on its victory. "We accept the mandate of the people with great humility. I congratulate the BJP for this victory and I hope they will fulfil all the promises for which people have voted them," he said.
Meanwhile, Congress took a dig at the AAP saying that Delhi poll results rejection of Kejriwal's AAP shows that the people rejected "politics of deceit and deception" rather than the "vindication of PM Modi's policies". "Delhi poll results nothing more than referendum on Arvind Kejriwal," Congress said.
Congress candidate from New Delhi, Sandeep Dikshit, thanked the party's top leadership for the trust they showed in him and the opportunity to contest the polls. "The Delhi voter wanted change, and I failed to live up to this sentiment. I heartily thank all the workers and the many volunteers who worked day and night in this election I am very grateful to those who voted for Congress even today," he said.
Counting of votes for the 70-member Delhi assembly elections started at 8:00 AM today, with trends and results on the Election Commission website showing a historic comeback for the BJP. The saffron party is ahead in 47 seats and the AAP in 23.
