According to EC, Dravid is himself responsible for this as he failed to submit the Form 6 meant to re-include one's name in voters' list, after he had earlier initiated to remove his name from the list when he shifted to his new home in RMV Extension.
Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Election Commission has issued a clarification on why the name of former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid has not been included in the voter's list this time. According to EC, Dravid is himself responsible for this as he failed to submit the Form 6 meant to re-include one's name in voters' list, after he had earlier initiated to remove his name from the list when he shifted to his new home in RMV Extension.
EC explained, "Rahul Dravid changed his house sometimes back. In his earlier ancestral house his brother lives and he gave form 7 for deletion of name as Rahul as he was not staying there anymore. But in the new residence Rahul Dravid did not take steps to get his name included in Electoral Roll although Registration officials visited there several times."
It is an irony, Rahul Dravid who is the brand ambassador for Karnataka Election Commission, won't be able to vote on April 18 for Lok Sabha elections. There are boards and billboards across the state requesting people to cast their vote with Rahul Dravid's face on them, but he himself cannot do so. The reason being that his name was deleted from the electoral rolls earlier but was not re-included.
As per reports, Dravid lives in Indiranagar 12th Main and his residence falls in the Shantinagar assembly segment in Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha constituency. Dravid votes in every election and that's why being a neutral celebrity, he was asked by the Election Commission asking to vote.
