'There Will Be An Alliance In UP': Akhilesh After Congress Claims SP Adopting 'One-Sided Policy'

Akhilesh Yadav clarified that the party is not biased on any particular candidate and believes whoever can defeat the saffron party should be given ticket.

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said there will be alliance with Congress and Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh will be “allotted properly”, news agency ANI reported. His statement comes a day after state Congress in-charge Avinash Pande said SP was adopting a “one-sided policy” in UP.

“There will be an alliance in Uttar Pradesh and seats will be allotted properly. We will try to throw the BJP out of the state,” ANI quoted Akhilesh Yadav as saying.

The SP leader also clarified that the party is not biased on any particular candidate and believes whoever can defeat the saffron party should be given ticket to contest the general elections.

“The Samajwadi Party believes that the candidate who can take on the BJP will get the ticket. We are not inclined towards any particular candidate. Efforts will be made to defeat the BJP,” Akhilesh Yadav told the news agency.

It is to be noted that earlier this week, SP announced the names of 16 candidates for the upcoming elections. Out of 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, SP has offered 11 to Congress.

According to ANI, Pande claimed that the list was announced without consulting with the Congress.

“The Samajwadi Party is not following the alliance drama. SP is making one-sided announcements in the alliance. The list released yesterday also included many seats many seats on which the Congress had a claim. What the Samajwadi Party is doing is very dangerous and Congress itself is not getting any information on it,” ANI quoted Avinash Pandey as saying.
