BJP Set to Unveil Lok Sabha Poll Manifesto
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up to unveil its manifesto, termed Sankalp Patra, for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections on Sunday. The document is anticipated to highlight the party's emphasis on welfare, development, and a roadmap for 'viksit Bharat' (developed India). The release will take place at the party headquarters, coinciding with the birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar, a revered leader from the Dalit community and a key figure in the framing of the Indian Constitution.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with other senior leaders, is slated to attend the manifesto unveiling. With the BJP government having fulfilled several core ideological promises, such as the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and the abrogation of Article 370, attention now turns to how the party's broader cultural and Hindutva agenda will be reflected in the manifesto.
According to party sources, the manifesto will highlight measures targeting youth, women, farmers, and the economically disadvantaged, constituencies Prime Minister Modi has frequently addressed. The BJP had established a 27-member manifesto committee led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, which convened twice to deliberate on its contents. Prior to this, the party had undertaken various initiatives, including nationwide vans and social media campaigns, to gather public input.
PM Modi to Address Rally in Madhya Pradesh's Pipariya
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a rally in Pipariya town, located in Madhya Pradesh's Narmadapuram district, on April 14, marking the birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar. Narmadapuram, formerly known as Hoshangabad, falls under the Hoshangabad Lok Sabha constituency.
Modi's address is expected around 11.45 AM in Pipariya town, as announced by the state BJP. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister's visit on the occasion of B R Ambedkar's jayanti, stating, "His arrival will fill us with energy, enthusiasm, and new strength in the current election period." Yadav highlighted the BJP's commitment to social harmony, a principle championed by Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution.
It is noteworthy that the Opposition has accused the BJP of seeking a sweeping mandate in elections with the alleged intent of undermining the Constitution.
Mayawati to Kickstart BSP Campaign in Western UP
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati is set to kickstart her Lok Sabha election campaign in western Uttar Pradesh with a rally on April 14, after a hiatus of seven years, aiming to bolster support for the party, PTI reported. Mayawati will hold rallies from April 14 to April 23 in several constituencies, including Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Rampur, Moradabad, Bijnor, Nagina, Ghaziabad, Baghpat, Amroha, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Bulandshahr, Meerut, and Hapur.
Western UP, encompassing constituencies like Bijnor, Nagina, Saharanpur, and Amroha, witnessed BSP candidates securing victories in the 2019 elections. These constituencies, slated for polls in the initial phase this year, have a significant presence of Dalit and minority community voters.
'If Our Govt Forms, We Will Declare Western UP As Seperate State', Says Mayawati
Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls 2024, BSP supremo Mayawati said, "If our govt forms, we will declare western UP as seperate state", reported ANI.
