'Anti-Sanatan Remarks' Cost Congress As Gourav Vallabh Jumps Ship To BJP

Gourav Vallabh resigned from Congress party earlier in the day saying he was not comfortable with the party's silence on 'anti-Sanatan' remarks by the leaders of its allies.

Former Congress spokesperson Gourav Vallabh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday after resigning from the grand old party earlier in the day saying he was not comfortable with the party's stance on several issues. He was inducted into the saffron party at the headquarters in the national capital in the presence of its national general secretary Vinod Tawde.

Former Bihar Congress president Anil Sharma also joined the party

On Thursday, Vallabh wrote a letter to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge stating that he was resigning from the party as he did not feel comfortable with the stance of the party on various issue including that on Ayodhya Ram temple and anti-Sanatan remark by its allies.

"I am a Hindu by birth and a teacher by profession and this stand of the party has always made me uncomfortable and troubled. Many people associated with the party and the alliance speak against Sanatan, and the party remaining silent on it is like giving tacit approval to it," he said in the letter.

He also said that the grand old party was moving directionless as it called for a caste-based census while opposing a complete Hindu society.

"Neither can I raise anti-Sanatan slogans nor criticise wealth creators day and night," he said.

Vallabh, who was often seen on news channel, criticised the party for its viewpoint on the economic policies of the country.

"The party's view on every disinvestment taking place in the country has always been negative. Is it wrong to earn money by doing business in our country," Vallabh said.

He said that while being in Congress he did not criticise every policy of the BJP-led NDA government.

"I supported the Production Linked Scheme introduced by the Finance Ministry and the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Today Congress opposes the LPG policy launched by PV Narasimha Rao. I cannot speak against wealth creators who produce GDP and employment for the country,” he said.
