'Will Contest Everywhere Required': Adhir Chowdhury's Cold Shoulder To Mamata's 'Support Congress' Remark
Mamata Banerjee said TMC would support the Congress "wherever it is strong". However, she stressed that Congress should reciprocate the same attitude towards the TMC if it wanted her support.
Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury came down heavily on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who said that her party would support Congress but the latter should not contest polls in Bengal. Training guns against Banerjee, Chowdhury said that they will “definitely fight” everywhere required.
“We will definitely fight...why only Bengal, we will fight everywhere required,” Chowdhury told news agency ANI.
Earlier today, Banerjee divulged Trinamool Congress’s poll strategy for 2024 saying her party would support the Congress "wherever it is strong". However, she stressed that Congress should reciprocate the same attitude towards the TMC if it wanted her support.
Trading barbs against Banerjee, Chowdhury said the Bengal CM went to states like UP and Bihar to support the parties fighting against Bharatiya Janata Party but did not visit Karnataka “because Congress was contesting” there.

“This is the same Mamata Banerjee who goes to UP and Bihar to help the parties contesting against BJP but does not visit Karnataka because Congress was contesting.”
“Today when Congress won then she felt it will be difficult going forward in Bengal without Congress, because Congress’s hold in Bengal is increasing day by day,” he added.
He claimed that the TMC chief did not take Rahul Gandhi’s name or Congress’s name even once during the Karnataka polls, Bharat Jodo Yatra, or when Rahul was disqualified from Lok Sabha.

“Party won in Karnataka but she never took Rahul Gandhi's name or Cong's name. During Bharat Jodo Yatra also she did not mention Rahul Gandhi's name. All other Opposition and regional parties spoke about him but not a single word by Mamata Banerjee.”
“When he was disqualified as a member of Lok Sabha, then too she never took his name,” he added.
