Haryana Polls: EC Issues Show Cause Notice To BJP State Chief Over Campaign Video, Here's Why
The poll body also sent a show cause notice to the State President of the BJP Haryana unit for immediate corrective action and submit a response by 6 pm on Thursday.
The Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday took serious note of a social media post by the Haryana unit of the BJP using a child in a campaign video and called it a violation of the EC guidelines.
The poll body also sent a show cause notice to the State President of the BJP Haryana unit for immediate corrective action and submit a response by Thursday.
A campaign video was reportedly shared by the BJP in Haryana on social media platform X after which the poll body took note of it. The EC guidelines rule against that the use of children in election-related campaigning.
The state president of the BJP has been asked to submit his response to the show-cause notice by 6 pm on Thursday.
In February, the EC had asked political parties and candidates to refrain from using children in political campaigns and rallies in any manner.
Political parties are explicitly directed not to engage children in any form of election campaign, including rallies, slogan shouting, distribution of posters or pamphlets, or any other election-related activity, the EC had said.
The Haryana Assembly election is scheduled to be held on October 1.
