Gujarat Polls 2022: BJP Core Committee Discusses Candidates For 47 Assembly Seats

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party Core Committee held its meeting on Thursday to discuss candidates for 47 seats for the upcoming Gujarat Assembly Election 2022. A panel of two-three candidates has been formed which will be put forward during the election committee meeting which will be held on November 8 and 9 in Delhi. 

Among the constituencies that were considered for discussion were Arvalli, Sabarkantha, Mahisagar, Banaskantha, Surendra Nagar, Porbandar, Dang, Valsad, Tapi, Narmada, Rajkot District, Rajkot City.

The Election Commission of India announced the poll schedule for Gujarat Assembly Election 2022 today where the polling will take place in two phase across the state. The polling for first phase of election will be held on December 1 for 89 assembly constituencies while the second phase of polling will take place on December 5 for 93 assembly constituencies. 

The votes will be counted on December 8, said the Chief Election Commissioner in a press conference held in the national capital.

The state recently witnessed a tragedy in Morbi city where a century-old suspension foot bridge over Machchu river collapsed on Sunday evening claiminng the lives of 135 people. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was on a three-day visit to the state visited the city and met with the victims of the tragedy at Morbi civil hospital.

Ahead of the polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the state and laid the foundation stone for various developmental projects and inaugurated many new projects. He also participated in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.  

While the BJP is yet to annuonce its candidates' list, the debutant Aam Aadmi Party has already released its list of candiates for the Gujarat Assembly Election 2022. 

On October 28, the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP released its seventh list of 13 candidates. So far, the AAP has released the names of 86 candidates.
