'Father & Son Are Janamjaat Liars': Congress Targets KCR, KTR Over Power Supply Claims
In the run-up to the Telangana Assembly elections, the issue of free power supply for farmers has turned into a hotly debated subject between the ruling BRS and the primary opposition party Congress.
New Delhi: Congress leader Ajoy Kumar on Thursday lashed out at Telangana's CM K Chandrashekar Rao's son and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) over his remarks regarding the state's power supply.
KT Rama Rao, while addressing a presentation for 'Trailblazer Telangana' on Thursday, claimed that people suffered from power shortages and power cuts when Congress governed, a Times Of India report said.
Accusing both father and son of lying, Kumar said, "He is a liar; father lies, son lies. (Union minister) RK Singh said that Karnataka gives 24-hour power supply to all households. How much in Telangana? Not even 6 hours."

According to the news report, KTR further claimed that farmers will only get a three-hour power supply if Congress is voted to power.
He also claimed that the KCR government is the only government in Telangana that provides a 24-hour electricity supply to the farmers.
"KCR government is the only government in Telangana that provides 24-hour electricity supply to the farmers," said KTR. "Do you want electricity or Congress?" he asked the public, reported ANI.
BRS Vs Congress: What Is The Issue?
In the run-up to the Telangana Assembly elections, the issue of free power supply for farmers has turned into a hotly debated poll issue between the ruling BRS and the primary opposition party Congress.
The BRS government led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has been highlighting its campaign promise to provide free electricity to farmers for 24 hours a day for a third consecutive term.
However, Congress has accused the BRS of “falsely” claiming that it is providing a 24-hour power supply.
“Only a Congress government can provide free power to farmers, as it had done in the past. The BRS government cannot provide 24-hour free supply to farmers,” Revanth Reddy had said at a public meeting in Gadwal, reported the the Indian Express.
According to the report, the next day, state power minister G Jagdish rubbished Reddy’s claims and challenged Congress to "touch the power lines."
“Let them touch the power lines anywhere in Telangana and check if there is power supply or not," Jagdish said.
Since then, claims and counter-claims have been made by both parties regarding the power supply in the state.
The Assembly elections will be held in Telangana on November 30, and counting of votes will take place on December 3.
