Delhi Assembly Elections 2025: KTR Mocks Rahul Gandhi, Says 'He Helped BJP Win Again'
Delhi Election Result 2025: KTR's remarks came as early trends indicated that the Congress party had reportedly dented the vote share of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in several constituencies.

Delhi Election Result 2025: As the Delhi Assembly elections unfolded on Saturday, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former minister KT Rama Rao took a dig at Congress senior leader Rahul Gandhi, sarcastically congratulating him for "securing a victory for the BJP." KTR's remarks came as early trends indicated that the Congress party, despite failing to secure leads in any of the seats it contested, had reportedly dented the vote share of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in several constituencies.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), KTR posted, "Congrats to Rahul Gandhi for winning the election for BJP, yet again! Well done 👏". He posted the statement along with a retweet of a video from a news conclave where he had made a similar remark.
This is not the first time KTR has criticised Rahul Gandhi. In the conclave in 2023, the BRS working president had called Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s "biggest asset" arguing that the Congress was incapable of defeating the BJP. He had further challenged the party to first prove its strength in BJP strongholds like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Gujarat before claiming to be an alternative, as per a report on India Today.
KTR also accused Rahul Gandhi of weakening BRS in Telangana, claiming that his party was capable of defeating the BJP.
Delhi Assembly Elections 2025
In the high-stakes New Delhi seat, AAP chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal found himself in a close contest, trailing behind BJP candidate by a narrow margin. As per Election Commission of India (ECI) updates after seven of thirteen counting rounds, the BJP candidate had secured 14,464 votes, while Kejriwal had 14,226 votes—a slim lead of just 238 votes. Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit was in a distant third place with 2,393 votes, playing a potential spoiler role in the contest.
Similarly, in Dwarka, BJP’s Parduymn Singh Rajput was leading after eight of nineteen counting rounds. AAP candidate Vinay Mishra was trailing by 2,925 votes, while Congress’s Adarsh Shastri had secured 3,433 votes.
Meanwhile, Congress is staring at a possible third consecutive electoral defeat in Delhi, having failed to secure any seats in both the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections. The ongoing polls indicate another potential wipeout for the party.
