One Hour Into Voting, AAP Alleges Police Intimidating Voters In Delhi Election

Delhi Elections: AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj has alleged that Delhi Police personnel are obstructing voters in AAP strongholds.

AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj on Wednesday alleged that Delhi Police personnel were intimidating voters and stopping them from casting their votes. Saurabh Bharadwaj, the Aam Aadmi Party's Greater Kailash candidate, spoke to voters in the Kalkaji constituency, who said that barricades have been put up to stop them.

"Police are targeting the strongholds of AAP and putting up barricades. How will senior citizens vote? In other areas, BJP workers are running car services and e-rickshaw services for voters," Bharadwaj said. He claimed that the police want to slow down the voting to benefit the BJP.

"If the returning officer did not issue such instructions, this was done according to the police instructions. The Delhi Police comes under the Lieutenant Governor and the Centre. So, the BJP doing whatever they want," the Delhi minister said.

He also said that a complaint was received that there is no light on the EVM. "It is very dark and people are not able to see the poll symbols," he said.

Delhi CM Atishi is the AAP candidate in the Kalkaji constituency. She is going up against the Congress's Alka Lamba and the BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri. The AAP had earlier claimed that Delhi would get Ramesh Bidhuri as the CM if BJP won the assembly polls.

Earlier on Wednesday, an FIR was registered against Delhi AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan for election code violation. Khan is the incumbent MLA from the Okhla seat. The case was filed after he was seen campaigning with more than 100 supporters in Zakir Nagar Tuesday night.
