New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday addressed a massive crowd in Mumbai where he claimed that the Congress won't get even 50 seats in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
The Prime Minister cited different surveys to support his claim, while speaking at a poll rally along with Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.
He said that all the recent surveys have pointed out that BJP will be winning majority of seats in the Lok Sabha elections. He said “the only question now is if the BJP will better its own 2014 tally.”
He said "since independence, the least number of seats that Congress won was 44, in 2014 General Elections. In 2019 General Elections, Congress is going to make a record of fighting on the least number of seats ever."
He also launched an attack on Congress and slammed it for neglecting the police forces force and turning it into a "punching bag" while it was in power.
This comes at a time when BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate Sadhvi Pragya is facing flak for her controversial remarks about 26/11 martyr Hemant Karkare.
Modi said: “Had it not been for the alertness of Mumbai Police, who have paid a heavy price including martyrdom, the city would have paid a heavier price due to terror activities.”
“We have changed the Congress culture where they would change the chief ministers and home ministers following terror attacks”, PM said.
