Congress Manifesto For Lok Sabha Polls Promises 25 Guarantees For Farmers, Women, Youth

The CWC meeting was attended by Mallikarjuna Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, KC Venugopal and P Chidambaram, among others.

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) on Tuesday met to decide the party's manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 at its AICC headquarters in New Delhi.

Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge said the Congress Working Committee (CWC) deliberated thoroughly on the Congress Manifesto and added that the five pillars of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra - Kisan Nyay, Yuva Nyay, Naari Nyay, Shramik Nyay and Hissedari Nyay have 5 guarantees each.

"Right from 1926, Congress Party’s Manifesto has been regarded as a "document of trust and commitment" The country is fervently demanding a change. The guarantees currently being touted by the Modi Govt would have the same fate as that of BJP's "India Shining" slogan of 2004," Kharge said.

The CWC meeting was attended by Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, MP Rahul Gandhi, and party leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, KC Venugopal and P Chidambaram, among other senior leaders.

Congress leader Deepender Hooda said a detailed discussion was held on the Congress manifesto on Tuesday and the manifesto will be released.

"When all the formalities are complete, the manifesto will be released. Every section of the society is disappointed and angry with the government. Each and every section has found a place in the Congress manifesto," Hooda said.

AICC General Secretary Jairam Ramesh stated on Monday that the CWC, Congress' top-decision making body would discuss the party's manifesto. He stated that the grand old party is all set to fight the general elections on the issues of 'five nyay.'

These include 'Bhagidari Nyay', 'Kisan Nyay', 'Nari Nyay', 'Shramik Nyay' and 'Yuva Nyay' and come with 25 guarantees, five for each nyay. These five points have already been announced by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former president Rahul Gandhi.

Jairam further remarked that these guarantees are given by the Congress party and not just a single person. His remark was a jibe at PM Modi who has been claiming to provide 'Modi ki gurantee,' news agency PTI reported.

Congress' Central Election Committee, chaired by Mallikarjun Kharge, is also slated to release a list of its candidates for the remaining 18 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh today.

So far the party has announced a total of 82 candidates in two different lists. In its first list Congress announced 39 of its candidates, while in the second one it named 43 of its candidates.

The Election Commission on Saturday had announced the schedule of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024. As per the schedule, the general elections will begin from April 19, 2024 and will be conducted across seven phases.
