Nandigram BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition in the Bengal Legislative Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari reached Nandigram hospital where he met with the injured party workers.
BJP leader Amit Malviya held Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee responsible for the violence saying she had threatened to take revenge for her defeat in Nandigram.
"I condemn Trinamool supporters cowardly attack on BJP workers in Nandigram," said Malviya.
"Trinamool supporters attacked BJP workers with sharp weapons in the Sonachura area of Nandigram. Seven people were injured in the incident. Rathibala Arhi, a woman BJP worker, lost her life," he added.
Meanwhile, the TMC denied having any role in the violence saying it was due to infighting in the BJP that the workers are clashing with each other.
"In 2021, @BJP4India agents subverted the mandate of the people in Nandigram. Ever since then, they have indulged in one conspiracy after another to create violence and stoke tensions," said the Trinamool Congress in a post on social media platform X.
