On Saturday, the Bharatiya Janata Party released its manifesto for the upcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections in the presence of party president JP Nadda, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and BJP state unit chief VD Sharma. The manifesto released by the saffron party has several promises, including free education, subsidies for farmers, and cooking gas cylinders.
In the manifesto, the saffron party has promised to provide free education to girls from poor families up to post-graduation. The manifesto also promised procurement of wheat at Rs 2,700 and paddy at Rs 3,100 per quintal.
The Congress took a swipe on the BJP over its Madhya Pradesh manifesto and said that it is brimming with 'jumlas'. Congress leader Supriya Shrinate said, "Today, BJP released its manifesto for Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls which is brimming with 'jumlas'. It also indicated the departure of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan," as quoted by PTI.
On Friday, the Election Commission removed three poll observers from duty after misconduct and violation of the code of ethics. The action was taken against two general observers deployed in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh and an expenditure observer in Mizoram.
Meanwhile, in Telangana, a total of 4,798 candidates filed 5,716 sets of nominations for the 119 seats ahead of the November 30 polls. The process of filing nominations began on November 3 and November 10 was the last day for submitting nominations. As per the schedule, the nominations would be scrutinised on November 13 and November 15 is the last date for withdrawal of candidatures.
The maximum number of candidates were from Gajwel Assembly constituency. The constituency saw the maximum number of 145 candidates, who filed 154 sets of nominations. BRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is seeking re-election from Gajwel and BJP leader Eatala Rajender is among those who filed their nominations from there.
